Meet Our Trainers
Marcia- Founder and Lead Trainer
Marcia is the founder and lead trainer at Prairie Oaks Dog Training, LLC.. She has been working in the animal field for over 30 years. Marcia began her career with animals at the age of 16, working for a local veterinarian. After working for 10 years, Marcia started college life with a major in Biology. She graduated from Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo and was hired as a biopharmaceutical technician at Genentech, Inc., located in South San Francisco, California. While at Genentech, Marcia became interested in emergency response, and hazardous materials in particular. She joined the local all volunteer fire department where she became a company officer, hazardous materials specialist and emergency medical technician. She volunteered with the fire service for 10 years. Marcia has been in the emergency management field for 20 years and has recently retired from Amgen, Inc. where she was the emergency manager for 12 years. Marcia has been an active volunteer with several local animal shelter organizations and has fostered numerous animals, with a special interest in hospice dogs. Marcia has studied training techniques with Susan Miley, Brian Agnew, Heather Beck, Jason Vasconi, Kacey Cover and Victoria Smith.
Marcia is a Professional Member of IACP (International Association of Canine Professionals), an organization dedicated to maintain the highest canine professional and business standards. |
Sarah- Assistant Trainer and Animal HandlerSarah has been working with animals for over 30 years. She is a retired Veterinary Assistant who is continuing to help animals of all kinds by volunteering at local animal shelters and humane societies. Sarah cares for the many animals living at Prairie Oaks Ranch including dogs, cats, goats, turkeys, chickens, Guinea hens, frogs, lizards, donkeys and a pig.
Sarah is a Navy veteran who served as a Corpsman stationed in Hawaii. She has traveled the world, but has always called Oklahoma home. Sarah has a special talent in caring for neo-natal kittens and puppies. |
